Skincare Cheat Sheet

Each of our skin, from texture, to color, to type, varies widely. We're all starting from different baselines, and healthy skin often means something very different to each of us. That's why we've invested in small-batch, regenerative skincare, which thoughtfully considers the unique needs of each individual. We know healthy skin isn't one-size-fits-all, and after years of research, we've learned what skin characteristics best coordinate to each product.

Acne & Breakout Prone Skin

Characteristics

Persistent breakouts of blackheads, pimples and cysts; skin can be oily or dry, enlarged and clogged pores, inflammation and redness around acne lesions, and may result in post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH) or acne scars. It has a tendency for new acne formations even after previous breakouts have healed.

Acne can be dry with flaky skin, or oily with large pores and a consistently oily sheen on skin. We offer products and protocols for both types of acne.

Treatment

Gently cleanse to remove impurities, use topical acne treatments and natural remedies like calming  hydrosols to hydrate. Exfoliate once a week to help keep pores clear of acne-causing debris.

Protocol
  1. Butter Cleansing Oil
  2. Marshmallow Hydrosol
  3. Sacred Skin Acne Serum
  4. Tallow Beauty Balm use when you need more moisture and hydration for both dry and oily acne; may clog pores for those sensitive to oils and butters.
  5. Pearl Powder 1 x week
  6. Milky Mask every 3 days

Add ons:

Chamomile Cleanser For oily acne, persistent acne or severe acne add in our cleansing gel for a 2-step cleansing method used with Butter Cleansing Oil (cleanse first with butter, then with the cleansing gel)

Vitamin C Serum helps reduce PIH (acne induced hyperpigmentation) in both types of breakout-prone skin and prohibits melanin production.

Sensitive Skin or Rosacea

Characteristics

Characterized by reactivity that results in redness, dryness, itching, and a fragile skin. It is prone to irritation, allergic reactions, and may have occasional breakouts.

Treatment

A moisturizing approach beginning with cleansers and products that offer deep moisture from animal fats and pufa aware oils.

Normal Skin

Characteristics

Smooth, even texture, clear complexion, minimal sensitivity, small pores, balanced moisture levels.

Treatment

Incorporate a balanced skincare routine that includes a gentle cleanse and moisturize twice a day; exfoliate once per week.

Protocol
  1. Butter Cleansing Oil or Chamomile Cleanser
  2. Vitamin C Serum
  3. Marshmallow Hydrosol
  4. Tallow Beauty Oil morning only
  5. Ghee Balm night only
  6. Pearl Micro Exfoliant 1 x week
  7. Milky Mask  1x or 2x/week mix with milk for gentle exfoliation and moisturization, or green tea or vasodilation benefits

Dehydrated Skin

Characteristics

Dehydrated skin lacks water within the skin and feels tight, dry, flaky, and has fine lines and wrinkles. It has difficulty absorbing products and can be irritated and sensitive. Dehydrated skin often mimics dry skin (lack of oil) so its important to know the difference for proper care.

Treatment

The recommended treatment involves focusing on hydration and then moisturization. This includes using gentle cleansers, avoiding hot water (which can further dehydrate the skin), and applying moisturizer over damp skin, followed by an occlusive balm to trap hydration in the skin.

Protocol
  1. Butter Cleansing Oil or Chamomile Cleanser
  2. Marshmallow Hydrosol
  3. Tallow Beauty Oil  day only
  4. Ghee Balm night only
  5. Tallow Beauty Balm
  6. Milky Mask  1x or 2x/week mix with milk (hydration) or full fat yogurt for gentle exfoliation and hydration, or honey for hydration.

Add ons:

New Moon Beauty Serum beautifies and helps with surface wrinkles (fine lines) by plumping the skin

Dry Skin

Characteristics

Dry skin lacks oil and shows up as a rough, dull appearance that has tightness or discomfort, increased sensitivity, itchiness, some flaking,  and a tendency for fine lines and wrinkles.

Treatment

Treatment is to double cleanse to keep skin moisturized. Use tallow based moisturizers along with an occlusive like tallow balm as the last step to deeply moisturize. Avoid products that strip the skin of its natural oils.

Protocol
  1. Butter Cleansing Oil or Chamomile Cleanser
  2. Marshmallow Hydrosol
  3. Tallow Beauty Oil  day only
  4. Ghee Balm night only
  5. Tallow Beauty Balm
  6. Milky Mask  1x or 2x/week mixed with Calendula Rose Hydrosol for healing, or milk, full fat yogurt, or honey for additional hydration.

Mature Skin

Characteristics

Mature skin resembles dry skin in terms of dryness and roughness, and also includes signs of aging such as fine lines, textured skin, wrinkles, age spots, large pores and sagging/sinking.
